After a very stylish and fun-filled third birthday, we’re back in The Sugar Club on 12 April with our favourite dancing duo, Fred and Ginger, in the all-time-great rom-com musical Swing Time.
If you’ve never seen a Fred and Ginger film before, or you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing one on the big screen, then you’re in for a treat. This iconic dancing duo brought such joy, grace and humour to their films, it is not hard to see why they were the biggest draw of the 1930s. Swing Time is the embodiment of early Hollywood glamour and is the perfect film to transport you magically back into the 1930s.
Perhaps the most-loved of the Fred and Ginger movies, Swing Times sees bandleader Astaire gets cold feet on his wedding day. Astaire’s bride-to-be Betty Furness will give him a second chance, providing he proves himself responsible enough to earn $25,000. Astaire naturally tries to avoid earning that amount once he falls in love with dance instructor Ginger Rogers. Numerous complications, laughs and dance routines ensue set to the famous Jerome Kern-Dorothy Fields score includes such standards-to-be as “Pick Yourself Up”, “A Fine Romance”, “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Never Gonna Dance” and “Bojangles of Harlem.”
Dress up your most dashing suit or glittering vintage ensemble and put on your dancing shoes for a screening of one of the greatest dance musicals of all time.
Watch the silver screen’s most enchanting couple before following in their footsteps and dancing the night away at The Film Fatale Vintage Dance Party.
